Jordan Spieth Sparks Strong Reaction With Unexpected Decision

It's been a busy past few weeks for golf star Jordan Spieth who admitted he needed some time away from the game after a missed cut at the Genesis Invitational last weekend.

“It’s been a tough week on the wrist. I wasn’t sure if I’d hit one more shot like my shot on 16 yesterday, I wasn’t going to finish the first round. I was OK to go today, but this cold, wet weather and third week in a row, it was not good for it,” Spieth said after missing the cut at Torrey Pines.

“It beat it up pretty good, but I’m hoping this next week, laying off of it for five or six days and working on it with therapy. It’s just inflammation so hopefully it will just go away and this will end up being a good thing that I kind of pushed it."

Apparently he didn't need too much time off because Spieth is already getting back on the course. In a surprise announcement on Friday night the Cognizant Classic revealed Spieth will be in the lineup just two weeks after saying he wanted some time off.

Spieth fans were taken aback by the news.

"#WOW For the first time in his career, Jordan Spieth has committed to the Cognizant Classic at PGA National!" one person said.

"LFG absolutely shocking!" said another.

"Absolutely SHOCKING news!" offered a third.

His appearance at the Cognizant wasn't the only news Spieth dropped this week. During a podcast appearance he revealed he and wife, Annie, are pregnant with their third child.

“I probably watched more football than I have, ever. A lot of family time. My son turned three in November, so we had his birthday and stuff. He loves monster trucks, we were at the monster truck rally. My daughter turned one in September before him, so we had her birthday right after we got home from Colorado after I had my surgery,” Spieth said. “My wife, we got a third coming in July. So, it’s busy.”
