On the latest injury report, several notable players, including Willi Castro and Mark Vientos, did not suit up on April 20 as the two continue to nurse injuries. And in Houston, the Padres saw Luis Arraez exit the game after a scary incident.

Arraez hurt during Sunday Night Baseball

Padres first/second baseman Luis Arraez left San Diego’s game on April 20 in the first inning after a nasty collision at first base. Arraez sprinted to first after a drag bunt and ran into Mauricio Dubon, who was covering first base.

Arraez was put on a stretcher and carted off the field after the incident.

On X, the Padres stated Arraez was transported to Houston Methodist Hospital to be further evaluated. The infielder was confirmed to be stable and conscious after the collision.

Ironically, it was the second straight day a collision between a runner and fielder happened at first base. Yesterday, Blue Jays outfielder Alan Roden collided with Mariners first baseman Rowdy Tellez.

Conine on 60-day IL

Miami will be without Griffin Conine for at least two months after he was diagnosed with a dislocated left shoulder. Conine sustained it after a headfirst slide into second base during the Marlins’ game on April 19.

Conine was on a good pace before the injury. The 27-year-old hit .281/.352/.438 (.790 OPS) with eight extra-base hits over 20 contests.

Sandlin on IL

Blue Jays reliever Nick Sandlin landed on the 15-day IL with a right lat strrain.

Sandlin was off to a good start during his first season in Toronto. The right-hander struck out 10 over eight innings.

Other injury news

Mets third baseman Mark Vientos (groin) did not play on April 20. Vientos exited the Mets’ contest against the Cardinals on the 19th.

Diamondbacks pitcher Merrill Kelly exited his start on April 20 after 5.2 IP after a leg cramp.

Wyatt Langford was officially activated from the 10-day IL. Langford was placed on the injured list earlier this month thanks to an oblique strain.

Rockies reliever Victor Vodnik was placed on the 15-day IL retroactive to April 17. Vodnik is dealing with right shoulder inflammation.

Carson Spiers (Reds) was placed on the 15-day IL with a right shoulder impingement.
