Astros stud added to All-Star Game roster

According to MLB, Houston Astros (48-38) outfielder Kyle Tucker has been added to the American League roster for the 2023 All-Star Game, replacing Angels outfielder Mike Trout, who was placed on IL Tuesday after being hit by a pitch.

Tucker — who will be making his second consecutive All-Star appearance — leads the Astros in batting average (.295), stolen bases (14) and hits (89), according to Baseball Reference. Tucker also has maintained remarkable health throughout the duration of the season, appearing in 84 of Houston's 86 games. Tucker, a Gold Glove winner in 2022, has seen unexpected struggles with his fielding as of late, but they're not significant enough to keep him away from one of baseball's highest honors.

The Astros, who find themselves an unusual three games behind the first-place Texas Rangers in the AL West, need their players to have as much confidence as possible for the second half of the season. With Yordan Alvarez and Framber Valdez also being selected, Houston's studs will be in good spirits after the All-Star break closes, putting the defending World Series champions in a solid position to retake the division.

The 2023 All-Star Game will be held in Seattle.
