The Los Angeles Angels won their first series of the 2025 MLB season, taking two of three from the Chicago White Sox. While neither win was pretty, as the Angels narrowly escaped Guaranteed Rate Field with one-run victories on Saturday and Sunday, it was a good start for a team that lost 99 games last season.

Chicago was the only American League team worse than the Angels last season, as its 121 losses set an MLB record. After an 8-1 Opening Day victory over Los Angeles, the White Sox gave away two winnable games to drop their first series of the year.

Following this three-game set between Los Angeles and Chicago, the Angels announced a trade with the White Sox.

"The #Angels have acquired LHP Jake Eder from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for cash considerations," the team announced on X. "Eder has been optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake. In a corresponding 40-man roster move, RHP Michael Petersen has been designated for assignment."

Eder has just one game of MLB experience, and it came last season with the White Sox. Appearing in a Sept. 17 contest against the Angels, Eder pitched two innings, surrendering two hits and one earned run while striking out a batter.

A 6-foot-4 left-hander, Eder was drafted in the 17th round by the New York Mets in 2017, but did not sign. He was drafted again three years later in the fourth round by the Miami Marlins, spending three years in their MiLB system before being traded to the White Sox for Jake Burger in 2023.
