The Los Angeles Angels have been impressive to start the 2025 MLB season. Losing a franchise record 99 games last year, Los Angeles made some internal and external offseason moves in an attempt to be more competitive in the American League West.
Entering Sunday's game against the Cleveland Guardians, the Angels owned a 5-3 record that ranked second in their division. One of the biggest keys to LA's success this season has been the offensive production from young catcher Logan O'Hoppe.
A 23rd round pick of the Philadelphia Phillies in 2018, O'Hoppe was traded to the Angels in 2022 for outfielder Brandon Marsh.
Hitting his fifth home run of the season in the second inning of Sunday's game, O'Hoppe made it four-straight games with a homer. Per the team, this made franchise history.
"Logan O'Hoppe is the first player in franchise history to homer in four straight games as a catcher," the Angels announced on X.

Getting this production from the catcher spot has been a big boost for the Angels to start the year. O'Hoppe has shown flashes of offensive proficiency in recent seasons, but has been streaky. Posting a career-high 112 OPS+ in 2023, O'Hoppe regressed to a slightly below-average 99 OPS+ last season.
Hitting in the middle of Ron Washington's order, O'Hoppe has been tasked with protecting Mike Trout and Jorge Soler, the two right-handed outfielders slotted third and fourth in LA's lineup.
Just 25 years old, O'Hoppe is a piece the Angels hope can be part of their core for years to come.
