The Toronto Blue Jays are off to a nice start to the 2025 season. After locking down franchise icon Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to a $500 million deal, the Blue Jays have found themselves in second place in a loaded American League East division.

So far this season, Toronto's offense has been middle of the pack. Many of their stars are currently producing below expectations, including Guerrero and teammate Bo Bichette. With an upcoming series against one of the best rotations in the Seattle Mariners, the Blue Jays will hope to rebound quickly.

That said, one of their struggling players will not be joining the team to take on Seattle.

In an official announcement on Thursday, the Blue Jays revealed they are demoting utility man Davis Schneider to Triple-A.

"Schneider has plenty of fans in the front office and on the coaching staff, too, but with the Blue Jays off to an 11-8 start in a crucial year, he’ll now head to the Minors to dig out of this funk," Keegan Matheson of MLB.com added.

So far this season, the 26-year-old is slashing .067/.333/.067 for a measly .400 OPS. Schneider has appeared in 10 games and has accumulated just 0.1 bWAR. After a breakout 2023 campaign, the New Jersey native struggled in his sophomore season in 2024. His OPS dropped from 1.008 in 2023 to .625 last season, and he accumulated 0.0 bWAR.

One reasons for those struggles were his strikeouts and lack of walks. Schneider will spend some time in Triple-A to refine his mechanics in the hopes of rejoining Toronto soon.

In his career, the third-year major leaguer has an OPS of .835 in MiLB acton.
