Blue Jays released their 2025 schedule

The 2024 season has been a disaster, so it’s certainly not too early to look ahead to the 2025 season.

After the All-Star break, the Toronto Blue Jays are 44-52 and are 14 games back of the American League East division lead and 9.5 games back of the final Wild Card spot. In a year they were set to contend, the Blue Jays more than likely will see at this year’s deadline.

Is there optimism for next season? As for right now, no. Honestly, it all depends what they do in the coming off-season and even the trade deadline. However, their 2025 schedule was released on Thursday afternoon, so that’s cool I guess.

For the first time since 2022, the Blue Jays open their season at home, facing off against the Baltimore Orioles starting on March 27, and will continue their opening home stand against the Washington Nationals starting on March 31. Their first road trip will be a lengthy one, facing the Mets on April 4 for their home opener, before a four-game series against the Boston Red Sox and a three-game series against the Orioles.

Interestingly, they’ll play Toronto West (the Seattle Mariners) earlier than usual, facing off against them on May 9 until the 11th. May sees the Jays face Cleveland, Los Angeles (Angels), Tampa, Detroit, San Diego, Tampa again, Texas, and the Athletics. The Blue Jays are off on May 19, which is odd because that is the date of Victoria Day in 2025. May also features “rivalry week” where every team will face a rival of geographical or historical relevance.

Next to April, June will be the month they’ll play the most away games, heading to Minnesota, St. Louis, Philadelphia, Cleveland, and Boston. Toronto will have just 11 home games as opposed to 15 away games that month.

July is a weird one, as they’ll thankfully be home on Canada Day, but will also be home on July 4. It’ll also see them head to Sacramento, where the Athletics will play their home games in 2025 as they wait for the stadium to be built in Las Vegas. The All-Star break is set for July 14-17.

August will see Toronto play a ton of National League teams. They host the Kansas City Royals at the start of the month, before embarking on a road trip that will see them head to face the Colorado Rockies and the Los Angeles Dodgers, before returning home to face the Arizona Diamondbacks (and the Texas Rangers). They head back on the road to play the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Miami Marlins, and return home to play against the Minnesota Twins and Milwaukee Brewers.

Usually, teams play mainly against their divisional rivals in September, but that isn’t necessarily the case for the Jays in September 2025. While they face the New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles, Tampa Bay Rays (twice) and the Boston Red Sox, they’ll have a series in Cincinnati against the Reds, host the Houston Astros, and head to Kansas City to face the Royals.

Let’s hope 2025 treats us Blue Jays fans better than 2024.
