Bo Bichette’s Blue Jays Future Potentially Revealed in Survey

With the Blue Jays and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. coming to terms on a 14-year, $500-million contract just a few days ago, attention has turned to his longtime teammate and free agent to be Bo Bichette

Both sons of former MLB stars, Guerrero and Bichette each debuted during the 2019 seasons, becoming the main foundational pieces of the Blue Jays roster since. The club has made the playoffs in three of the past five seasons with the two together.

The question now is if the Blue Jays will or can even afford to keep Bichette north of the border beyond 2025. There is even some doubt if he will still be in Toronto at the end of this season.

The Blue Jays would probably like to keep Bichette, but after signing Guerrero to the third-largest contract in MLB history, the chances of that seem fairly slim. Former GM and MLB Insider Jim Bowden recently predicted that Bichette would land a free-agent contract in the five-year, $150-million range following the 2025 season.

On Tuesday, MLB Trade Rumors allowed their readers to chime in on what they believe the future holds for Bichette, running a poll with the question "Will Bo Bichette Be a Blue Jay In 2026?". At the time of writing, more than 66% of the nearly 5,000 respondents answered that he would sign elsewhere in free agency.

If the prognosticators, both professional and amateur, are proven correct, the Blue Jays better make the most of the time they have left with Bichette.

The team is off to a nice 7-5 start through its first dozen games of 2025 with Bichette appearing poised for the rebound season many expected of him. The two-time All-Star is batting .314 with four doubles and seven RBI over 51 at-bats to this point.
