People have quickly forgotten about Boston's addition of starting pitching, which has made it a contender in not only the AL East but the entire American League.
Boston acquired left-hander Garrett Crochet from the Chicago White Sox in a trade that sent top prospects Kyle Teel and Braden Montgomery to the South Side.
The Red Sox signed former Dodgers right-hander Walker Buehler to a one-year deal worth $20 million. Buehler had a shaky regular season but performed on the biggest stage, including earning the save in the clinching Game 5 of the World Series.
Lucas Giolito will be inserted into the Red Sox starting rotation after missing all of 2024 due to Tommy John surgery. He will be looking for a bounce-back season, as his last season on the mound ended with a 4.88 ERA.
The back end of the Red Sox rotation will feature Tanner Houck and last year's Opening Day starter, Brayan Bello. Bello being the No. 5 in the rotation after starting on Opening Day last year speaks volumes about how loaded the Boston starting rotation is.
Kutter Crawford may also make some starts for the Red Sox if manager Alex Cora decides to use a six-man rotation. The depth and talent give Boston a good chance to have one of the best baseball rotations.
