Today, the Red Sox will have a key arm on the mound as Brayan Bello makes his return. Bello, during his rehab assignment, went 0-2 with a 7.07 ERA, a 1.57 WHIP, and 21 strikeouts in 14 innings. To make room for Bello, the Red Sox are optioning Zack Kelly to Triple-A Worcester. Kelly, in seven appearances, is 1-1 with a 9.00 ERA, a 1.40 WHIP, and 11 strikeouts in ten innings.
Bello last season made 30 starts, going 15-8 with a 4.49 ERA, a 1.36 WHIP, and 153 strikeouts in 162.1 innings. He also made a rehab start at Double-A Portland, going 2.2 innings, giving up three runs, two earned, on four hits. He walked two and struck out five. He’s made 71 appearances, with 69 of those coming as starts in his young career. Bello is 28-27 with a 4.42 ERA, a 1.42 WHIP, and 340 strikeouts in 376.2 innings.
