The Milwaukee Brewers have announced their Opening Day roster ahead of the 2025 season beginning in Yankee Stadium this afternoon.
Things have gone mostly chalk for the roster expectations after the latest round of cuts were made but the Brewers had to make a decision on what to do with the final spot on the pitching staff.
Jose Quintana is not going to start the season with the club, instead accepting an optional assignment to the minor leagues to continue his ramp up after getting to spring training late. That left room for an addition that few expected on the roster.
Here is the Brewers initial 26 man roster this season.

Chad Patrick, our 28th ranked prospect in the Brewers system, made the Opening Day roster to help fill out that pitching staff and he's likely to get a start at some point during the home series against the Royals. It was between Patrick and Logan Henderson for that spot and the Brewers ultimately chose Patrick.
Abner Uribe does end up making the roster as well. The Brewers were leaning towards that in recent days, especially with so few healthy pitchers remaining in camp. He's suspended for the first four games of the season and the windows the Brewers were looking at to have him serve that suspension were either now or at the end of April. He serves the suspension now and by the second game of the Royals series, he'll be available for Pat Murphy the rest of the way.
Isaac Collins does indeed grab the final bench spot as the backup outfielder. He can also play some infield if needed.
Jake Bauers goes from a non-roster invite to making the team as well. To clear a 40 man roster spot for Bauers, the Brewers designated outfielder Brewer Hicklen for assignment.
Notably, to clear that 40 man spot the Brewers did NOT move Brandon Woodruff to the 60 day IL. Woodruff is only on the 15 day injured list, which means the Brewers are likely expecting and hoping for a return before Memorial Day.
Patrick and Rule 5 pick Connor Thomas are the two players who will be making their Major League debuts when they first get into a game. There are six total players who are on their first Opening Day roster, including those two, plus Jared Koenig, Elvin Rodriguez, Vinny Capra, and Isaac Collins.
