Cubs Make MLB History After Dodgers Game

Ian Happ and the Chicago Cubs walked off the Los Angeles Dodgers, 11-10, on Tuesday in the bottom of the tenth inning.

It was the team's third win in six tries so far this season as it finishes out its third series in a month against the defending World Series champions.

Through the first 25 games of the 2025 MLB season, Chicago's 15-10 record is good enough for first place in the NL Central, currently holding a 1.5-game lead over the Milwaukee Brewers entering Wednesday's action.

Much of that is to do with a potent offense led by offseason acquisition Kyle Tucker. The Cubs have already hit 37 home runs (third in MLB) and recorded 35 stolen bases (leads MLB). In doing so, they've set a new big-league benchmark.

According to OptaStats, the Cubs are the first team in MLB history to record at least 35 home runs and stolen bases through its first 25 games.

Tucker, the three-time All-Star outfielder, leads the way with seven homers while Pete Crow-Armstrong paces Chicago with eight stolen bases in nine attempts.

While unlikely, if Chicago kept us this current pace, it would finish the regular season with 240 home runs and 226 stolen bases. That would have led the majors in both categories last season.

The Cubs and Dodgers wrap up their quick two-game series at Wrigley Field on Wednesday night. Matthew Boyd (1-2) and Ben Casparius (2-0) will start for their respective clubs.
