The Detroit Tigers will play the third game of their four-game series today against the Kansas City Royals. The Tigers have won the first two games of the series, winning game one on Thursday 6-1 and then last night 7-3. Casey Mize gets the ball today for the Tigers while Seth Lugo goes for the Royals. Today, they placed right-handed pitcher John Brebbia on the 15-day injured list with a right triceps strain. They recalled left-handed reliever Bailey Horn from Triple-A Toledo.
Brebbia this season is 1-0 with a 1.00 ERA, a 0.89 WHIP, and nine strikeouts in nine innings. He’s in his eighth season, he’s made 362 appearances, with 21 of those coming as starts. Brebbia is 16-21 with a 3.73 ERA, a 1.21 WHIP, and 397 strikeouts in 364 innings. Last season between Atlanta and the White Sox, he made 59 appearances, going 0-6 with a 5.86 ERA, a 1.36 WHIP, and 67 strikeouts in 55.1 innings. In one start at Triple-A Charlotte, he went one shutout inning, giving up a hit. He didn’t issue a walk and struck out two.
Horn at Triple-A Toledo has made five appearances, with two of those coming as starts, posting a 6.48 ERA, a 2.40 WHIP, and 11 strikeouts in 8.1 innings. Last season in 18 games, he went 1-1 with a 6.50 ERA, a 1.78 WHIP, and 13 strikeouts in 18 innings.
