The Detroit Tigers are starting a three-game series tonight against the San Diego Padres. The Tigers just took three out of four from the Royals over the weekend after they dropped the finale 4-3 in extra innings. Today Keider Montero takes the ball for Detroit as he goes up against Randy Vásquez. Ahead of today’s game the Tigers recalled infielder Jace Jung from Triple-Toledo and optioned Ryan Kreidler to Toledo. Jung in 19 games at Toledo this season is hitting .239 with an .872 OPS. He has four doubles, a triple, three home runs, six RBI, nine runs scored, a stolen base and 20 walks. Kreidler in 17 games this season is hitting .105 with a .296 OPS. He had five runs scored, two stolen bases, and four walks.

Jung played in 95 games last season between Single-A Lakeland and Triple-A Toledo, hitting .258 with an .841 OPS. He had 24 doubles, a triple, 15 home runs, 63 RBI, 53 runs scored, three stolen bases, and 71 walks. He also made his big league debut with Detroit, playing in 34 games, hitting .241 with a .666 OPS. Jung had five doubles, three RBI, 14 runs scored, and 15 walks.
