To make room for Lee, they optioned last night’s start, Keider Montero, to Triple-A Toledo. Lee this season in six games is 0-1 with a 6.65 ERA, a 1.29 WHIP, and 12 strikeouts in 9.1 innings. Montero made two starts, going 0-1 with a 7.71 ERA, a 1.93 WHIP, and 11 strikeouts in 9.1 innings. Last night, he went 4.1 innings, giving up four runs, three earned, on five hits. He walked four and struck out three.
Lee was acquired in the trade that sent Andrew Chafin to the Texas Rangers. In 17 games with Toledo last season, he went 1-3 with a 3.27 ERA, a 1.23 WHIP, and 31 strikeouts in 22 innings. In 11 games in the Rangers system last season, he went 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA, a 0.86 WHIP. He’s made 146 minor league appearances, going 7-11 with a 3.86 ERA, a 1.34 WHIP, and 249 strikeouts in 182 innings.
