With the start of the MLB season just over a month away, ESPN made a major announcement about its Opening Day broadcasting team on Tuesday. Joe Buck, the play-by-play voice of ESPN's Monday Night Football, will call his first national MLB game since joining the network in 2022.

Buck will form a special three-man broadcast booth alongside YES Network analyst Joe Girardi and Milwaukee Brewers color analyst Bill Schroeder for the March 27 Opening Day matchup between the Milwaukee Brewers and New York Yankees at 3 p.m. ET.

This will be a special, one-off appearance for Buck on ESPN's MLB coverage as the network broadcasts an exclusive Opening Day doubleheader.

“Opening Day has always been a signature day on the sports calendar and, personally, it remains special,” said Buck. “ESPN approached me with this one-off opportunity to help launch the season and it was a quick ‘yes.’ Joe and Bill are both great friends and better baseball minds and I know they will carry the telecast, while I just plan to be along for the ride.”

Buck last appeared on a national broadcast for his 24th and final World Series in 2021 while working for Fox.

“Joe Buck is synonymous with Major League Baseball and his presence in the booth will be an incredible addition to our Opening Day coverage,” said Burke Magnus, ESPN President, Content.

ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball broadcast team of Karl Ravech, Eduardo Perez and David Cone will call the Opening Day nightcap at 7 p.m. ET between the reigning World Series Champion Los Angeles Dodgers and the Detroit Tigers.
