The pipeline between the Angels and Braves continues. It’s amazing how many players go back and forth between the two organizations, but there are obvious connections. The main one being Angels manager Ron Washington, who spent seven seasons with the Braves from 2017-2023.
Atlanta signed Hector Neris late in the offseason, but they thought he did enough during a couple of appearances in Spring Training to warrant a spot on the Opening Day roster. Immediately, he was thrust into a high leverage situation and failed miserably, giving up three runs without recording a single out in the first game of the season. Neris would make one more appearance with the Braves a few days later, allowing two more earned runs over an inning of work, which led to him being designated for assignment.
