Some streaks go unnoticed until they quietly morph into something remarkable. That’s exactly what has happened between the Atlanta Braves and the Minnesota Twins.
With a three-game sweep over the weekend at Truist Park, the Braves extended their winning streak against the Twins to 11 games — a run that dates to 2019. What might appear on the surface as a standard series win is, in fact, the longest winning streak in Braves franchise history against Minnesota.
It also stands as the longest active winning streak in Major League Baseball against the Twins.
During this stretch, the Braves have thoroughly dominated. They’ve outscored the Twins 72-36 and continue to find new ways to win. This past weekend’s sweep wasn’t short on highlights.
Matt Olson opened the series with a two-run homer in the first inning. Rookie catcher Drake Baldwin followed with his own two-run shot, and veteran slugger Marcell Ozuna added a solo blast to pile on the pressure.
Meanwhile, right-hander Grant Holmes, making just his 11th career start, delivered his best outing yet — throwing a career-high 105 pitches across 5 2/3 innings, striking out seven and allowing just one run.
The Braves are now a perfect 6-0 all time against Minnesota at Truist Park and boast a commanding 20-8 record in the all-time interleague series dating to 1997.
Though the 1991 World Series between these clubs remains iconic — won by the Twins in seven unforgettable games — the rivalry has been decidedly one-sided ever since. For Atlanta, it’s dominance. For Minnesota, it’s starting to feel like a curse.
