Jazz Chisholm, Jr. is facing at least a fine from Major League Baseball after his ejection Thursday night, online outburst and postgame comments.
MLB confirmed it is reviewing the ejection and his behaviour afterwards.
“I don’t care. I did what I did," Chisholm told reporters after the game.
The Yankees' second baseman was tossed in the seventh inning of New York’s 6–3 win over the Rays after arguing balls and strikes with home plate umpire John Bacon.
The called third strike was reportedly low, and according to Statcast, it was Bacon’s second missed call of the at-bat. Chisholm slammed his helmet and continued arguing before being restrained by manager Aaron Boone.
After the game, Chisholm took to social media and posted a profane message referencing the strike call, writing, “Not even *%&&& close!!!!!” on X.com.
He later deleted the tweet.
MLB is now investigating both the on-field actions and the social media post, which clearly violate MLB rules. Mostly likely he will receive a fine.
It was Chisholm’s first ejection as a Yankee and the club’s first of the season.
Bacon, meanwhile, is under fire.
Earlier in the week, he ejected Orioles manager Brandon Hyde after another disputed strike call. That game drew criticism after tracking sites reported 17 missed calls, 14 of which went against Baltimore.
According to @Umpsscorecard's review of Bacon's work Thursday night, he struggled with the strike zone. His strikezone accuracy was just 82%. He called seven balls strikes in that game.

An umpire’s best days are usually quiet ones. But in the span of five days, Bacon has become a central figure in two on-field incidents, and now he is central to a potential league disciplinary case.
