The Milwaukee Brewers are going to be the center of attention on Opening Day as they travel to New York to take on the Yankees on March 27th. Brewers-Yankees will be the first game out of the chute on the 2025 MLB season with a 2 PM first pitch.
A matchup between last year's NL Central champions and last year's American League champions has caught the interest of the big time broadcast network, ESPN, and also caught the attention of one of the biggest broadcasters of this generation.
ESPN just announced the surprising return of a legendary broadcaster to the baseball booth.
The Athletic has reported that ESPN is going to have legendary broadcaster Joe Buck in the booth for the Opening Day matchup between the Brewers and Yankees on March 27th.
Buck has not called baseball play-by-play regularly since his move over to ESPN after the 2021 season.
For the game, Buck has also chosen his color commentators, bringing in Bill Schroeder from the Brewers broadcast and Joe Girardi from the Yankees. It'll be a three man booth and Schroeder will help give the Brewers some representation on the worldwide leader in sports.
Buck was on the call for some big moments in Brewers history, including the 2018 NLCS when he gave the legendary call of Brandon Woodruff's home run off Clayton Kershaw in Game One.
The Brewers will have Freddy Peralta on the mound for this game, which has already been announced so Buck can begin his preparations already for that. The Yankees haven't said who is starting for them but it's highly likely to be Gerrit Cole.
Baseball is soon to return and now Joe Buck will also make his return to baseball and the Brewers get to be his first game back.
