The New York Mets have won two straight games and eight of their last 10 after their 5-1 win over the Minnesota Twins on Monday. Star sluggers Pete Alonso and Juan Soto each drove in Luisangel Acuña, with Alonso hitting an RBI single in the third inning and Soto a two-run homer in the seventh.
However, center fielder Jose Siri (tibia) was out after getting hurt during Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Athletics. The 29-year-old is having a rough season, as he's hitting just .050 with one RBI and a .308 OPS.
Unfortunately for New York, Siri's injury update isn't ideal.
The 6-foot-2, 210-pounder has a fractured left tibia, via MLB.com's Anthony DiComo. Fellow outfielder Tyrone Taylor, who's hitting .158 this season, has replaced him in the meantime.
The Mets (11-5) acquired Siri from the Tampa Bay Rays for relief pitcher Eric Orze on Nov. 19 and signed him to a one-year, $2.4 million deal on Jan. 9 to avoid arbitration.

Siri sports a career slash line of .207/.265/.403 with 54 homers and 137 RBI in 366 games. The fifth-year veteran debuted for the Houston Astros in 2021 before they traded him to the Rays in '22.
New York is two games ahead of the Philadelphia Phillies for first place in the NL East. It'll face the Twins twice more before returning home to host the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday. After that four-game set, it'll host the Phillies for a three-game series before going back on the road to play the Washington Nationals.
