The New York Mets entered Monday with a 15-7 record. They have put themselves in first place in a loaded National League East division, a full two games ahead of the second place Philadelphia Phillies. After finishing third in the division last season, the Mets are hoping to claw their way to the top.
After sweeping the St. Louis Cardinals in a four-game series for the first time since 1986, the vibes are high right now in Queens. But despite their stellar record, the Mets have not been able to figure out their center field position. And after Monday's update, it doesn't seem like clarity will come quickly.
MLB’s Anthony DiComo took to X to provide an update on injured Mets center fielder Jose Siri who has been sidelined since fouling a ball off his leg against the Athletics earlier this month.
“Jose Siri (fractured left tibia) will miss 8-10 weeks from his time of injury, per David Stearns," he wrote. "That places his return at early to mid-June.”

On April 12, Siri fouled a pitch off his leg in a game against the Athletics. He had to be carted off the field. The 29-year-old began the season as the Mets' primary center fielder. During his first 10 games of 2025, Siri accumulated -0.2 bWAR and slashed .050/.208/.100 for a .308 OPS.
Unfortunately, it sounds like the Sabana Grande de Boya native will need to wait a least a couple of months to course correct his season. The Mets are hopeful that the right-handed outfielder will return to full health in time for their playoff push.
