Mets stay hot despite Juan Soto's continued struggles

Two recent constants stayed the same for the Mets on Tuesday. They extended their winning streak to six games, and Juan Soto continued to struggle

Despite another 0-for-4 game from Soto, New York beat Philadelphia, 5-1. The win handed the series to the Mets, who took Monday's opener 5-4. Soto was also 0-for-4 in that game.

While Soto did reach base with a walk and eventually score, the Mets won thanks to production from Francisco Lindor, Pete Alonso, Mark Vientos and even Luis Torrens.

A day after scoring five runs exclusively via the long ball, the Mets put five on the board the old fashion way by keeping the ball inside the ballpark.

After crushing two home runs and recording four RBI Monday, Lindor stayed hot and went 3-for-5 with another RBI and a run on Tuesday.

Alonso was 2-for-4 with an RBI and run of his own. Vientos hit a pitch down the third base line for an RBI double and Torrens picked up a pair of RBI as well.

New York is now 17-7 on the year and sitting in first place in the National League East with a four-game cushion. But the Mets are winning in spite of Soto's slow start.

The four-time All-Star and former batting champion is hitting just .233 with three homers and 12 RBI so far in 2025.

On one hand, they need their big free-agent acquisition to be the player he was for the crosstown rival Yankees. But at the same time, the fact they are winning regardless shows they have enough around Soto to go the distance if everything goes right.
