The Los Angeles Dodgers are coming off a World Series title in 2024, and they have seemingly only strengthened their roster from top to bottom as they get off to a rapid start in the 2025 season.
The Dodgers began their 2025 campaign in Tokyo, where they took down the Chicago Cubs in a two-game series. They followed that up a week later with a sweep of the Detroit Tigers in Los Angeles during Opening Day weekend.
Now, with Tyler Glasnow back on the mound for the first time since suffering a season-ending injury last year, L.A. defeated the Atlanta Braves 6-1 in game one of their series on Monday night, improving to 6-0 on the season. According to MLB statistics, this marks a historic milestone for Dodgers baseball.
For the first time since 1981, the Dodgers have started 6-0, tying their longest winning streak to open the season. Coincidentally, that 1981 season saw the Dodgers win the World Series—against the New York Yankees, who they defeated again in the 2024 World Series.

On that 1981 team, the Dodgers had plenty of talent, but you could make the case that the team they've assembled this season is one of the best top-to-bottom rosters in MLB history, with Shohei Ohtani leading the charge.
From pitching to hitting, they have All-Star-level talent, and there may not be a better trio of hitters in any lineup than Mookie Betts, Ohtani, and Freddie Freeman. After them, you're still facing power hitters like Will Smith, Teoscar Hernández, Max Muncy, and a handful of other skilled players throughout the lineup.
They’re set to take on the Braves again on Tuesday night, with Dusty May making his first start of the season. He’ll face off against 2024 NL Cy Young winner Chris Sale as the Braves, who are still searching for their first win of the year, sit at 0-5.
