Entering play on Sept. 15, Baltimore Orioles slugger Chris Davis has 196 strikeouts, and his strikeout total continues to climb with a few weeks left in the season. He has a chance to exceed his 208 strikeouts from 2015 and possibly break Mark Reynolds' single-season record of 223. His 196 punch-outs already are good enough for Davis to make the list for a third time, but we'll just start with his 2016 campaign here and see where he ends up by October.
UPDATE: He finished with 219 for third most all-time.
After setting the strikeout record in 2008 with 204 strikeouts, Reynolds easily topped it. The Diamondbacks didn't care as much in his second record-breaking campaign, as he hit .260-44-102.
