Phillies' Rivals Extend Contract of GM
Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

There's no doubt in anyone's mind that the Philadelphia Phillies are set up for long-term success.

With Bryce Harper, Trea Turner, and now Aaron Nola, under contract for multiple years, they should be able to chase their goal of winning another World Series title for the franchise with this group.

They've made deep playoff runs the past two years, despite not having much regular season success to write home about.

Much of that is due to the Atlanta Braves.

The Phillies' division rival has won the NL East for six years in a row and have put together back-to-back 100-win seasons.

However, it's been Philadelphia who has gotten the better of the Braves when it's mattered most the past two years, as the Phillies won both meetings in the National League Divisional Series.

But despite Atlanta's shortcomings the last two postseasons, they've had plenty of recent playoff success, including a World Series title in 2021.

As the Phillies have built their roster to chase their championship dreams, they'll be competing against the architect of this Braves roster for years to come as the franchise announced they have extended their general manager and president of baseball operations, Alex Anthopoulos, through the 2031 season.

Anthopoulos joined Atlanta in November 2017 as their executive vice president and general manager before being promoted to his current role in February 2020.

Since his promotion, they have won four NL East titles, a National League pennant and a World Series championship, while making the playoffs every single year.

Philadelphia doesn't have a slouch in their front office either, and with both of these roster builders set to be battling for years to come, the rivalry between the two franchises should only increase.
