Pitcher props: Rough night ahead for Christian Javier

Today is packed with afternoon baseball, so you best hop into the slate soon and find some spots; the games are starting soon! We've got you covered with a few of our favorite looks today. Our focus is on a handful of pitcher props.

Christian Javier under 18.5 outs (-150 DK) — Christian Javier has gone over this outs total just twice in 18 games this season, equating to nothing more than an 11 percent hit rate for the year. When Javier last faced Oakland, he got through only four innings, totaling 12 outs. This number feels too high, and as such, we take the under.

Zac Gallen over 17.5 outs (-160 DK) — Zac Gallen draws the Giants today, a team that is not hitting RHP very well of late. Their OBP is bottom-10 and their wRC+ (designed to quantify the true impact of their offense) is fourth-worst in the league over the past 30 days. When Gallen last faced San Francisco on July 13, he registered 20 outs and has gone over 17.5 in five of his last seven starts. We like him to go over today. We realize our first two recommendations are a bit juiced. A parlay of the two is +170 on DraftKings.

Braxton Garrett over 4.5 Ks (-125 DK) — Since joining the Marlins' rotation on June 5, Braxton Garrett has made nine starts. He's over this 4.5 total in six of them and has piled up 11 and 7 Ks in his past two outings. Cincinnati is striking out at the seventh-highest rate against LHP in the past 30 days, making the Reds a terrific target today. We like Garrett to keep up his strikeout success against the Reds this evening.

Drew Rasmussen under 15.5 outs (-110 DK) — Drew Rasumussen has exceeded 15.5 outs in just 25% of his starts this season (4 of 16), and just once in his past five. Now he'll see a Baltimore team knocking RHP, owning the ninth-highest OBP against righties in the past 30 days. We see another quick pull from manager Kevin Cash, and we'll be taking Rasmussen's under.

Nathan Eovaldi under 5.5 Ks (-158 FD) — In case you missed it on Friday night, the Red Sox were blown out by the Blue Jays, ultimately losing 28-5. That disaster of a night began with Nathan Eovaldi, who allowed nine runs on eight hits in just 2.2 IP. Eovaldi has struggled to make it through games of late, getting to the sixth inning just once in his past four starts. No team strikes out less against RHP than Cleveland, and Eovaldi has gone under his K prop in three straight. Let's make it four straight tonight.

In other news ...

Buccaneers sign Julio Jones — While it's not the Julio Jones we're used to, it's an exciting signing nonetheless for a Tampa Bay offense that might as well stock up the cupboard. As the NFL season draws closer, we can't help but feel like Tom Brady is a great bet to win MVP. Tampa Bay should roll through a weak NFC, and Brady should continue piling up numbers in this offense. Keep an eye on that one: Brady is currently +800 to win his fourth MVP.

San Francisco 49ers are officially Trey Lance's team — As expected, San Francisco has announced the team has moved on from Jimmy Garoppolo in favor of second-year passer Trey Lance. When a team gives up the assets the 49ers did to acquire a QB, it's only a matter of time, and now it's official. This can alleviate any risk you may see in taking some Trey Lance season-long props or drafting him in fantasy football. One of our favorites is Trey Lance to rush for over 5.5 TDs; he had 14 in his lone college season as a starter.

Las Vegas Aces win Commissioner's Cup — The Aces took home the Commissioner's Cup win last night over the Chicago Sky, and now the attention turns to the rest of the regular season and playoffs to come. Las Vegas was in control for the entire game against the defending champs and top-seeded Chicago, a good sign of what's to come. The Aces are loaded with talent, led by A'ja Wilson and Kelsey Plum, and currently the +200 (FD) favorite to win the Championship. That is feeling like a bet worth making.
