The Boston Red Sox had several high-caliber stars they were set to rely on going into the 2025 season.
While designated hitter Rafael Devers and third baseman Alex Bregman struggled to establish a rhythm within the first few games, rookie second baseman Kristian Campbell had already established himself as one of the top batters on the team.
The young star was well ahead of schedule, to the point that the Red Sox already gave him an eight-year, $80 million extension.
Even after receiving an extension, Campbell has been a reliable high-volume batter. Outside of right fielder Wilyer Abreu, Campbell has been the most consistent batter this season.
On Friday, Boston defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 13-9 in the first game of a three-game home series. While the win was big, one of the more significant accomplishments came from Campbell.
In two at-bats, Campbell accounted for three runs, one hit, one RBI, two walks, and only one strikeout.
After that performance, Campbell became the Red Sox player to reach base in each of his first Major League career games since Devers in 2017.

In the first eight games and 26 at-bats of his Major League career, Campbell has accumulated nine runs, 11 hits, two of them being double-base hits, two home runs, five RBIs, 21 total bases, six walks, six strikeouts, one stolen base, a batting average of .423, an on-base percentage of .515 and a slugging percentage of .808.
Campbell is having a stellar start to his major league career after being allowed to show his potential during the Spring Training process. Time will tell if he will remain one of the top batters for the Red Sox, but management's gamble on Campbell is paying off.
