The Boston Red Sox are back in action as they take on the Northeastern University Huskies in their first Spring Training game, which will take place on Feb. 21 at Boston's JetBlue Park. The team's official Grapefruit League slate is on Saturday, Feb. 22, against the Tampa Bay Rays.

It marks the 20th time Boston has squared off against the Huskies before beginning its Spring Training slate.

According to Tom Caron, Red Sox star prospect, Roman Anthony will not play for Boston, and righty Trayce Thompson will replace him. Thomspon will lead off in the game.

Anthony was hit in the arm by a pitch a couple of days ago at camp and is still sore, manager Alex Cora said at the Red Sox's last presser.

However, Boston's other star prospects Marcelo Meyer, and Kristian Campbell will suit up and get some live at-bats. It's well known that Campbell and Anthony are fighting for spots on the Red Sox opening-day roster.

It's usually not until later in camp that MLB clubs throw in their big-name stars for meaningful at-bats, but there are still a handful of guys Boston fans will want to keep their eye on.

Another name who is in the lineup in the eighth slot is Jhostynxon Garcia, who the Red Sox protected in the Rule 5 Draft as he was successful in the minors in 2024.
