In a roster reshuffle, the Chicago White Sox have reclaimed infielder Jacob Amaya from the Baltimore Orioles. This acquisition follows the departure of outfielder Zach DeLoach, making room on the White Sox's tight 40-man roster.

Jacob Amaya's journey back to Chicago is noteworthy, especially after a brief offseason stint with the Orioles. The 26-year-old infielder, initially waived by the White Sox, found no permanent ground to stand on with Baltimore before making his way back home. Known for his defensive prowess, Amaya's offensive output has room for improvement, with a batting average of just .176 across 24 games last season split between the Sox and the Astros.

On the flip side, Zach DeLoach, also 26, exits the White Sox 40-man roster after batting .209 with a modest contribution of one homer, five doubles, and five RBIs over 22 games in 2024. His trade to the Sox, along with right-hander Prelander Berroa and the 69th pick in the 2024 draft for right-hander Gregory Santos, showed promise but ultimately led to this designation for assignment.

The White Sox 40-man roster remains full following the moves.
