After losing back-to-back series against the Detroit Tigers and then the San Francisco Giants, the New York Yankees have bounced back in a big way. The AL East team swept the Kansas City Royals in their latest three-game series and improved to an 11-7 record in the process.
It was a hard-fought sweep for the Yankees, too. The Yankees' pitching stepped up tremendously for them, as they allowed just six runs during the three-game series. Furthermore, the Yankees ended the series with a bang, as they defeated the Royals in a close matchup by a 4-3 final score.
The Yankees needed a perfect series like this, as they were starting to trend in the wrong direction a bit. However, with this sweep of the Royals, they have now put themselves back at the top of the AL East.
The Yankees have undoubtedly had the Royals' number for a long time now. In their last 162 games against the Royals, the Yankees have put together an incredible 117-45 record. In addition, as one Reddit user pointed out, the Royals have not won two straight games against the Yankees since all the way back in 2014.
This is an incredible streak by the Yankees, as it shows that they have been nothing but dominant against the Royals for over a decade now. The Yankees will have the opportunity to try to extend this streak later this season, as they have another three-game series against Kansas City from June 10 to June 12. It will be intriguing to see if they can do just that from here.
