As reported by BoxingNews.com, Sean Brady was able to secure a fourth-round win by submission over Leon Edwards at UFC London to hand Edwards his second consecutive defeat.
In the first two rounds, both fighters went toe-to-toe, both men were standing up.
By the end of the first round, Brady got the firs takedown. Brady knew that once he got Edwards down, he could use that to his advantage.
Bradley managed to secure a double-leg takedown immediately to start round two. He then followed up with ground-and-pound punches to take control of the fight. He continued the pattern in round four.
He got Edwards into a full body mount before securing a guillotine choke as Edwards tapped out.
Brady was the dominant fighter for most of the fight. He made five takedowns out of the seven he attempted. He also outstriked Edwards 221-to-23.
That was the first stoppage loss of Edwards’ career. After the loss, questions arise over Edwards’ next move.
Brady’s win is impressive, considering he took the fight last minute. JackDella Maddalena was meant to face Edwards first. He is now looking forward to bigger and better things. Brady is being looked at as a serious contender for a title shot.
“To be honest, I literally took this fight the day I got out of the hospital with my wife with our newborn baby. I knew this was a fight that I could do that in. I know I can do that against anybody in this division. [And] I just showed that against one of the most prestigious champions as of recently, so I think I belong in the top three, top one [of the UFC welterweight rankings]. I heard all week people saying I’m too small. I’m not small for welterweight, I was 190lb when they weighed me at the back. I’m just short and that’s alright,” Brady said.
