Amanda Nunes has made a name for herself while competing in the UFC over her career.
With her achievements, Nunes will be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame.
Reports confirm that the induction ceremony will take place June 28 this year in Las Vegas.
The news was announced while Nunes was attending UFC 314. Nunes has an established career and has built herself as one of the best female fighters ever.
Nunes became a two-division champion by earning titles in bantamweight and featherweight.
During her career, Nunes attained wins against alentina Shevchenko, Holly Holm, Miesha Tate, Germaine de Randamie, Ronda Rousey and Cris Cyborg. She retired in 2023 from the UFC after a win against Irene Aldana.
Her reason for retirement was to focus on her family and to finally take a rest from the sport.
“I cannot kick as much anymore. My legs have nerve damage from over the years. So things are starting to get harder for me. My shoulders need rest, my knees. Even my teeth need work after getting hit in the mouth so many times. I don’t see myself back in the cage any time soon,” Nunes Said.
“I am looking forward to a break. My body needs this. I wanted Dana to know first. That was my best opportunity to tell him. I wasn’t sure until then. I needed to feel it in the moment. So as soon as the fight was over, I told him, ‘I’m done. I need to take care of my body and give it a break. We’ll see what happens in the future,” Nunes continued.
