Tom Aspinall Calls Out UFC Heavyweight Champ Jon Jones
© Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

One of the most anticipated fights in UFC history may never happen. Jon Jones is the current UFC heavyweight champion and Tom Aspinall is the current UFC interim champion. UFC fans everywhere want to watch Jones and Aspinall get locked in an Octagon with only one man exiting as the undisputed, unified UFC heavyweight champion.

Aspinall, who is the No. 1 ranked heavyweight contender, appears to want this fight as much as anybody. Jones, despite being the No. 2 pound-for-pound UFC fighter in the world, is allegedly the sole reason this powerhouse fight hasn't happened yet.

Aspinall took to social media on Sunday, calling out Jones. Aspinall says he's ready to fight any day, anytime, anywhere:

"I have spoken to the UFC on multiple occasions about this fight. I'm chasing it. I've been on the record saying I want the fight...What's holding it up right now is his side. That's the truth of it. The UFC really really wants this fight to happen. This is one of the biggest fights that can be made...This is now totally down to Jon Jones and his team to work that out, and I'm literally waiting for a date."

At 31 years old, Aspinall has showed all the promise and potential in the world when he steps into the Octagon. While he has a 15-3 overall record, his lone misstep in the UFC was a loss to Curtis Blaydes in 2022. This fight went in the record books as a TKO loss, however, Aspinall tore his MCL, ACL, and meniscus in the first round causing him to essentially forfeit. Aspinall avenged his loss by beating Blaydes handily in his last fight in 2024.

Aspinall continues to apply the pressure on Jones outside the Octagon (for now), going as far as saying he'll end Jones' career:

"I will retire Jon Jones without even fighting him...Jon, let's do it. You don't have to ask me twice. If not, I'll fight somebody else for the undisputed belt. I'll fight anybody, anytime, anywhere. It doesn't matter, I'm ready to go."
