A welterweight bout between No. 14 ranked Vicente Luque (23–10–1) and fan favorite Kevin Holland (27–13, 1 NC) has been added to the UFC 316 fight card. The fight promotion announced the addition on Friday.
Holland snapped a two-fight losing streak in his last fight defeating Gunnar Nelson by unanimous decision at UFC London in March. The fight was Holland's return to the welterweight division a three-fight stint in the 185-pound weight class. "Trailblazer" will be looking to build on the momentum.
Luque last fought at UFC 310 in December, defeating Themba Gorimbo via first-round submission. Both Luque and Holland earned 'Performance of the Night' bonuses for their last victories.
UFC 316 takes place on June 7 at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. and is headlined by a bantamweight championship rematch. Champion Merab Dvalishvili takes on former titleholder Sean O'Malley in the featured fight.
The UFC 316 fight card features a second world title bout in the co-main event. Women's bantamweight champion Julianna Peña puts her title on the line against two-time Olympic gold medalist and second-ranked Kayla Harrison.
