A Croatian journalist has rubbished claims that Celtic are closing in on a deal to sign Dominik Livakovic from Fenerbahce. Reports from Turkey stated that the Croatian Internationalist wanted to leave the Super Lig after one season and that Jose Mourinho had sanctioned his departure. The talk had been of a £7.5m deal but this has since been rubbished by the well-placed journo.
However, according to Croatian journalist Ižak Ante Sučić, there has been no discussions between the player and the club about a proposed move.
Dominik Livakovic won’t join @CelticFC. Not a single word was exchanged between Dominik, his team and @Fenerbahce on that matter. Rumors from Turkey and Scotland were completely false. Everything was confirmed by his public relations agent Stipo Dubravac. https://t.co/KbZDRw9KVI pic.twitter.com/pgOS08C5xm

Sučić was ahead of the curve when reporting on Josip Juranovic’s move and subsequent departure from Celtic and is usually on the ball when discussing Croatian transfers. It does not mean that Celtic are not interested in the player and there is no prospect of a deal. The position is just that there is no deal in place and that the reports were massively wide of the mark.
Celtic will want to have their new No.1 in place for pre-season but the chances are that the player that they do sign to replace Joe Hart is at the Euros.
