Brad Keselowski Addresses Tariffs and Their Effect on NASCAR

Brad Keselowski is more than a NASCAR Cup Series driver. He’s a team co-owner at RFK Racing. He runs the bottom line at the race track on Sundays and focuses on the bottom line of the business on Mondays.

On Saturday, the 2012 Cup champion visited with reporters at Darlington and discussed a variety of topics, including the slow start to his own season and the impressive start to the No. 60 car of Ryan Preece, who joined the team this year after Stewart-Haas Racing closed its doors.

During the press conference, The Athletic’s Jordan Bianchi asked about the big item in the news — tariffs — and how it might affect NASCAR.

”Yeah, I can't say I put a ton of thought into it, Jordan,” Keselowski admitted. “But, you know, a lot of our single-source parts come from here in the United States. I don't know a lot of them that don't.

"But that doesn't mean they're not affected, whether that be raw materials or so forth. But, at this point in time, I don't see there being a drastic effect for us. But, you know, I don't know what I don't know."

The reporter then proposed a hypothetical with the manufacturers being concerned about their profit margins going down and if there might be a trickle-down effect where they opt to not invest as much into motorsports. Keselowski said for his team, in the short term, everybody has contracts and commitments and they’re in a good spot with all of their sponsors.

Keselowski and his RFK Racing teammates return to the track at Darlington on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET. The race airs on FS1.
