Bubba Wallace is one of the best stock car drivers in the world, and he's proven it through multiple series in the NASCAR Cup Series.
Wallace drives for 23XI Racing, the team co-owned by Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan. He's accustomed to performing under pressure - especially with two all-time greats as his bosses - but he admitted that he's had some embarrassing moments on track.
During a recent podcast appearance, Wallace revealed his most embarrassing moment at the race track, recalling a particularly viral video from 2022 at Circuit of the Americas.
“Just busting my ass on a longboard at COTA,” Wallace said on the “Stacking Pennies” podcast this week with fellow driver Corey Lajoie.
Wallace then told Lajoie that he walked away from his accident on the track in Texas with some injuries.
“Dude, I was hurting for like a week,” he said. “Like my hip was – my hip like, internally was like – I was limping hard, dude. I still have a scar on my arm. It looks like a Buffalo Bills logo."
To make matters worse, Wallace says he fell in front of a fellow driver and the owner of another team.
“And the best was I had just passed Julia and Daniel (Suarez) and (Trackhouse Racing owner) Justin Marks," Wallace said.
Wallace said that he told the group he would be okay, and then he clearly wasn't as he fell to the ground.
The driver also noted that he was lucky to avoid more serious injury by hitting his head, and that he chose a safer mode of transportation the next year by riding a scooter.
Wallace finished in third on Sunday at Homestead, his best finish in a points race so far this season. He'll look to build on a strong performance this week when the Cup Series travels to Martinsville.
He has one career top five finish at the track, and historically it's been one of his better tracks in terms of finishes.
Fans can tune into the race from Martinsville on Sunday at 3 PM on FOX Sports 1, as Kyle Larson looks for back-to-back wins.
