With the Clash at Bowman-Gray Stadium this coming weekend, one driver still unaccounted for was a full-time driver in 2024. That driver is Corey Lajoie. His plans up until now were pretty much unknown. Lajoie went from piloting the No. 7 Chevy for Spire Motorsports to a ride swap with Justin Haley and Rick Ware Racing’s No. 51 during last season’s final seven races. That certainly seemed like he would be the full-time driver for RWR this season.
As it turned out Cody Ware is back for that No. 51 car full-time, so it again left Corey without a full-time opportunity. Well, LaJoie has some news. Yes, he will drive in 2025, but it isn’t a full-time gig.
According to Dustin Albino from NASCAR.com, Corey had plenty of options to pick from for this season, but he ultimately chose a route that would put him in a new position.

Corey will be partaking in a limited cup schedule for Rick Ware Racing driving the No. 01 while creating the Stacking Pennies Performance Brand. That isn’t his only job this season, as he will also serve as an analyst for Prime Video’s five-race slate beginning at the Coca-Cola 600 in May. LaJoie talked about the opportunity with Albino.
” The Amazon piece is one of the reasons why this year is going to look a little bit different,” LaJoie said. ” When those guys were pursuing me towards the end of last year, I felt like there were things that were materializing in my life and doors that were opening from the Lord to allow me to see that there are other things that I can do outside of being a full-time Cup driver. ”
It had been an up-and-down career to this point. It’s not like Corey didn’t have opportunities it’s just that a lot of bad luck and unfulfilled moments. The guy did have two scary flip-over crashes in 2024.
LaJoie also didn’t want to get in team owner Rick Ware’s way of putting his son Cody full-time in 2025. After leaving a discussion with Ware, LaJoie went for a meeting with the head of talent at Amazon and was hired after one interview.

In launching his new Stacking Pennies Performance Brand, LaJoie was looking to distance himself from anything involved with the No. 7. So because of his popular podcast’s name and the fact that the value of a penny is 1 cent. The #01 was an easy choice.
” For me, it’s a proof of concept of the branding and how we want to treat our partners, how our cars look, and bringing people to the race track,” LaJoie said.
Corey’s first run will be to attempt to make the Daytona 500 with DuraMAX and Take 5 Oil Change aboard his No. 01 Ford Mustang.
