Legendary NASCAR Driver Blasts Sport's Fan Base

A former star NASCAR driver does not want to hear any fan complaints about last Sunday's racing product at Bristol.

Kyle Larson led for a whopping 411 of 500 laps at the Food City 500 at Bristol on Sunday, dominating a race that many fans felt was boring and lacked action. It wasn't just viewers who expressed disappointment either. NASCAR insider Jeff Gluck lamented the possible role the Next Gen car plays in limiting excitement on the track, and legendary driver Denny Hamlin flat out said the race at Bristol "wasn't good."

Kenny Wallace seems to disagree. Wallace, 61, the 1989 NASCAR Busch Series Rookie of the Year and former FOX racing commentator, sent a salty message to fans on social media Monday night.

“Y’all need to take a massive f-----g break from b----ing and moaning about a NASCAR race. Ain’t nobody worried about that bulls--t,” Wallace wrote. “The f-----g place fits 155,000 people. You dumba--es never stop."

Wallace's tweet generated negative feedback from NASCAR fans who felt like their concerns were dismissed, but he doubled down on his take in a video posted Tuesday morning.

“Yesterday evening, I motherf----d some people because I just got tired of all the b----ing and moaning,” Wallace said. “You know what the response was? ‘When we quit complaining, that means we don’t care anymore.’ Ooh [laughs]. … I guess the more y’all complain, the more you like the sport? Is that where we’re going with this? ‘I b---- and moan all the time because I love the sport so much.’

“There could be something to that. Maybe y’all might win me over with your b----ing and moaning 24/7. It never ends. My God, my ears hurt.”

Wallace is certainly entitled to his opinion, but it seems obvious NASCAR is going to have to think about some possible solutions to this problem.

Otherwise, the organization risks further ticking off members of its loyal fanbase.
