76ers guard Cameron Payne arrested in Arizona

Philadelphia 76ers guard Cameron Payne was arrested Friday morning in Arizona after allegedly not cooperating with police in Scottsdale.

Authorities from the Scottsdale Police Department were called out to a disturbance near 68th Street and Chaparral Road at around 2:44 a.m. and found Payne and another person, according to TMZ Sports. Payne was arrested and booked for allegedly refusing to give his name and providing a false report to police.

Payne was booked into jail but released shortly thereafter.

The 29-year-old guard played for the Phoenix Suns from 2019-2023, which could explain why he may have been in the Scottsdale area. He was acquired by the 76ers in February as part of Milwaukee’s trade for Patrick Beverley.

Payne averaged 7.4 points and 2.6 assists per game in 78 contests last season split between the Bucks and Sixers. He has been in the NBA since being taken No. 15 overall in the 2015 draft by the Thunder.

Is LeBron James Playing vs Pacers? Lakers Reveal Final Injury Report

The Indiana Pacers are 42-29 which is good for the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference. They will look to continue upon their five-game winning streak as they take on the Los Angeles Lakers and do whatever they can to add to L.A.'s three-game losing skid. More news: Pacers Have Real Chance to Overtake Knicks in East Standings Indiana will need every advantage they can get, especially so close behind the No. 3 seed New York Knicks in the East. A potential edge that the Pacers have on the Lakers is that the league's all-time leading scorer LeBron James has found himself on the injury report. James recently took seven games off due to a groin strain suffered earlier this month, and although he's played in the Lakers last two contests, hasn't scored 25 points in either. With a player like LeBron, it's best to not assume he will remain a non-factor for very long. Even without a major scoring outburst from the kind, the Lakers are 37-23 when he is on the floor. As he is officially listed on the NBA injury report with a left groin strain, he will play in Wednesday evening's contest, per Lakers inside Jovan Buha, much to the dismay of Pacers fans. More news: Pacers Rumors: Warriors Could Have Interest in Myles Turner This Offseason The Pacers will continue to add to their 24-9 home record and notch a sixth straight victory, but will now have the detriment of going against a 21-time All-Star. Indiana must keep rolling and try to extend this win streak regardless of who is matching up on the other side of the court. This season has been one to remember so far, but it will be easily forgotten without another deep post season run. Pascal Siakam has been showing why he was an All-Star selection averaging 21.2 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 3.2 assists since the break, and Tyrese Haliburton has taken a major step since the midseason festiviteis putting up 21.6 points and 11.8 assists per game. Connor Bedard receives strong warning about potential Blackhawks contract extension

Connor Bedard has received a warning about extending his contract with the Blackhawks. Connor Bedard will become eligible to ink a long-term extension with the Chicago Blackhawks on July 1, but NHL insider Craig Button believes he needs to wait. Discussing the matter on the "Donnie Dhali" show, Button advised Bedard to wait until his rookie contract expires in 2026. That summer would be his initial opportunity to hit the market as a restricted free agent. "The Chicago Blackhawks are awful,' Button said. 'If I was Bedard's agent, I wouldn't sign him to any extension. There's no benefit to signing early. He'll make the same money if he waits until next July. Plus, waiting opens him up to potential offer sheets." Bedard leads the Blackhawks with 56 points in 71 games and was the Calder Trophy winner last season as the NHL Rookie of the Year after scoring 61 points in 68 games. Chicago, however, is having another dismal season, last in the Central Division at 21-41-9 and already officially eliminated from playoff contention. Blackhawks need to prove to Bedard they're serious about winning Button insisted they have yet to prove they can succeed at constructing around the 2023 No. 1 overall pick and therefore it makes sense that Bedard hold back on any long-term decision. "Bedard needs evidence from the Chicago Blackhawks that a long-term deal is worth it," Button said. "Right now, there is nothing in Chicago that makes you think staying is beneficial." Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman echoed that sentiment on Sirius XM NHL Radio, adding that Bedard might consider waiting for the next collective bargaining agreement to be negotiated. "Why would anyone sign before that? Just to see maybe if anything changes?" Friedman said. "Now, if you get an idea that the rules aren't going to change, then you don't do it. But I did have someone say to me (that) for a star, for one of the top players — and Bedard is the franchise player in Chicago — you might wait to see if any rules change." A new CBA could alter offer sheet dynamics and salary structures, and place the Blackhawks in a difficult spot if other teams make offers to their emerging star.

Steelers Have Left Insider Scratching His Head With Bizarre Offseason Development

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been trying to reshape their roster throughout the 2025 offseason, and that has come with a lot of moves. Some players have been released, signed, and a big trade was even made in acquiring DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks. There's absolutely been progress, but there is still a lot of work to do if Pittsburgh plans to be able to compete in the AFC during the 2025 season. The franchise needs to find a starting quarterback, while a variety of other moves need to be seen in order to restore some optimism into the fan base. The Steelers have already parted ways with a few players by releasing Larry Ogunjobi and Preston Smith. Those were two expected cap casualties, as is Cordarrelle Patterson who is currently still on the roster. Nearly every fan expected Patterson to be gone by this point in the offseason. He missed a chunk of the 2024 season due to injury, and he was completely ineffective when returning kicks and struggled to contribute on the offensive side of the ball. Insider Ray Fittipaldo was asked about this during his mailbag for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on Tuesday, and he seems to be perplexed by the fact that Patterson is still on the roster. "That's probably the most head-scratching development of the offseason," Fittipaldo said. Patterson signed with the Steelers late in the 2024 offseason, and it was shortly after the new kickoff rules were announced by the NFL. The veteran has been known throughout his career as a kickoff return specialist, and he even holds the record for most kickoffs returned for a touchdown. He is likely a future Hall of Famer because of his production on special teams and offense combined, but he is not the player he used to be. Patterson signed a two-year deal worth $6 million, and the organization could save $2.8 million by releasing the running back at any moment. It was obvious that Pittsburgh signed Patterson as a depth piece at running back and as a threat in special teams after the new rules were announced, but things did not go as planned. Patterson returned just 11 kicks and averaged under 22 yards per return. This was over five yards below the league average. The veteran is no longer a threat on special teams, and the Steelers have two running backs ahead of him on the depth chart. The running back position is loaded in the 2025 NFL Draft, so there is no reason for Patterson to still be on the roster. He may still be on the roster to cover up Pittsburgh's intentions to attack the position in the draft, but that is far-fetched. Steelers' Arthur Smith Loves Cordarrelle Patterson Patterson played under Arthur Smith while the two were together with the Atlanta Falcons for three seasons, and Patterson accounted for a lot of the offensive production for Smith while the coach got horrendous quarterback play. The veteran played a bit of running back and receiver, tallying 1,494 rushing yards, 708 receiving yards, and 20 total touchdowns on offense. Both parties left Atlanta after 2023, and it can be assumed that Smith was a big advocate for Patterson joining the Steelers. The coordinator has history with the player, and maybe that has something to do with Patterson's extended stay on the roster. Head Coach Mike Tomlin also probably likes Patterson's football-pedigree, which could be a reason he has stuck around. However, if the Steelers draft a running back at the end of April, Patterson should be gone.

Daniil Medvedev reveals truth about Iga Swiatek taking supplements during tennis matches

Daniil Medvedev has shared his thoughts on top players like Iga Swiatek using supplements during intense matches. The Russian star believes this is completely normal. He explained that the high intensity of tennis causes fatigue, leading players to take vitamins to stay strong. One of the most memorable moments in tennis came during the 2023 Cincinnati Final. Novak Djokovic shouted “creatinaaaa” while facing Carlos Alcaraz in a long 3-hour-49-minute match. This moment went viral. Later, Djokovic spoke about his frustration with existing supplements and launched his own brand, SILA, which he claims is the most advanced in the world. "It’s not a big deal. Look, you get sick playing tennis. In normal life, you take a paracetamol, it’s fine. In tennis, you get sick, you have a match the next day, you try to take vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin B, paracetamol, anything that helps. And there you have it, you have 10 just because you’re sick. So I wouldn’t be surprised to see 30, so I’m not surprised to see 14. In fact, I would be surprised if I saw someone at the top of the rankings putting down four supplements [on their declaration form]. I would be really shocked," Daniil Medvedev said on National News. Recently, tennis has faced more scrutiny over supplements and banned substances. In 2024, two major doping scandals shook the sport. Jannik Sinner and Swiatek were both suspended after testing positive due to contamination. Swiatek’s issue came from a tainted sleeping pill, leading to a one-month ban. Sinner’s case was more controversial. He tested positive for clostebol, allegedly from his physiotherapist, and received a three-month suspension starting Feb. 15. Iga Swiatek prevails against Elina Svitolina in Miami World No. 2 Iga Swiatek took another step toward her first title of the year with a tough 7-6(5), 6-3 win over Elina Svitolina. The Polish star defeated the No. 22 seed from Ukraine in the Round of 16 at the Miami Open. The match lasted 2 hours and 5 minutes and ended just after midnight on Tuesday. Swiatek is still in the race for her second Miami Open title. She won this tournament in 2022, completing the Sunshine Double by winning both Indian Wells and Miami. Only three other women — Steffi Graf, Kim Clijsters and Victoria Azarenka — have achieved this feat. Although Swiatek has not won a title in 2025, she leads the tour in main-draw match wins. Her victory over Svitolina was her 21st of the season. This puts her ahead of Mirra Andreeva and Aryna Sabalenka, who each have 20 wins. Swiatek has a strong record against Ukrainian players, with 13 wins and just one loss. Her only defeat came against Svitolina at Wimbledon in 2023. In the quarterfinals, she will face 19-year-old wild card Alexandra Eala from the Philippines. Daniil Medvedev’s recent struggles explained Former World No.1 Daniil Medvedev has been struggling not just in 2025 but also for most of the 2024 season. The Russian has not won an ATP title in over 12 months, with his last trophy coming at the 2023 China Open. Medvedev has built a reputation as a hard-court specialist throughout his career. Most of his titles have come on hard courts, including his U.S. Open victory in 2021 and the ATP Finals win in 2020. However, his title drought on hard courts speaks volumes about his struggles. In 2024, Medvedev reached the finals of two major events, the Australian Open and Indian Wells. However, he lost both matches to Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, respectively. Medvedev has often been second best to these two rising stars over the past two seasons. His only victory against either of them came against Sinner in the 2024 Wimbledon quarterfinals.
