The Philadelphia 76ers have signed free agent forward Isaiah Mobley, the team announced in a press release.
Mobley, 25, was selected with the 49th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft out of Southern California. He spent his first two professional seasons on two-way contracts with the Cleveland Cavaliers, appearing in 22 games in a reserve role. Cleveland opted not to bring him back last offseason.
The 6-foot-8 forward joined Philadelphia on an Exhibit 10 contract during training camp but was waived ahead of the season. He spent the entire year with the team’s G League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats.
Mobley initially struggled during the G League’s Tip-Off Tournament, averaging 11.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists across 13 games. He improved his production during the regular season, posting 17.4 points, 7.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 22 appearances while shooting 47.1% from the field.
Contract terms were not disclosed, though Philadelphia currently has a full 15-man roster. With no corresponding move announced, Mobley was likely added under the league’s hardship exception, which permits temporary roster expansion due to multiple long-term injuries.
He effectively replaces forward Colin Castleton, whose hardship deal expired Friday. Castleton is expected to sign a multi-year contract with the Toronto Raptors. Marcus Bagley also remains on a hardship deal with Philadelphia.
Mobley is the older brother of Cavs power forward Evan Mobley.
Philadelphia failed to qualify for the postseason following injuries to team stars Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and Paul George.
