Defense wins championships is the old adage across sports. The Oklahoma City Thunder hope that rings true this season as the team boasts the league's best defensive unit and one of the best in NBA history.

The backbone of that defense is on the perimeter with Alex Caruso, Cason Wallace and Lu Dort. The Thunder made a blockbuster swap to add Caruso into the fold from the Chicago Bulls this offseason as one of the best defenders in the league joining up with a defense-first squad.

On Thursday, Caruso went on The Young Man and the Three Podcast to discuss his NBA journey, the Oklahoma City Thunder and give insight on life in the league. On this show, the defensive ace had high praise for Wallace as a second-year standout.

"Athlete dude," Caruso said of Wallace "For him it is almost all instinct, because at this point he has such a little track record of playing. For me, I had to learn what everybody's tendencies were to be able to get into position and be good at it. For him, he is learning on the fly and just pure athletic ability, defensive mind, 'im just sitting down and guarding,' He has blocked more jump shots this year than I have seen in my entire NBA career. He is jumping second, blocking it...He has some nature ability that is not teachable."

Wallace has 26 blocks and 94 steals on the season through 54 games, averaging 2.2 stocks a night in 27.4 minutes per contest. The Kentucky product has been a defensive menace for the Oklahoma City Thunder and earned high praise from a two-time all-defensive team member.
