Bold One-Word Prediction Should Thrill Spurs Fans

At 16-16 on the season, the Spurs are not one of the better teams in the Western Conference, but everyone around the league knows it's only a matter of time. Wemby is routinely putting up historical numbers, and he is only 20 years old with (let's face it) not an elite supporting cast. As he and the rest of the young Spurs grow together and improve, it's painfully obvious that it's only a matter of time before the NBA runs through San Antonio. 

"Our alien overlord Victor Wembanyama wanted to play chess in Manhattan and nobody batted an eye," wrote The Athletic's Law Murray in a power ranking that had the Spurs ranked 17th. 

"This is how the horror movie starts! The crossover appeal of Wembanyama is sky-high, so yes, it’s cool that he is just chilling in New York. Right now, the best teams in the Western Conference are the mostly young Oklahoma City Thunder, Memphis Grizzlies, Houston Rockets, and Dallas Mavericks. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Ja Morant, and Luka Doncic are all All-NBA level players who will get some MVP buzz, but the anticipation about their future is nowhere near that of the Spurs.

As the NBA looks to market its brightest young star, "dynasty" is a perfect word to describe the potential in San Antonio.
