Boston Celtics Could Target Chicago Bulls Trade This Offseason

It is safe to say the defending NBA champions, the Boston Celtics, do not need many things right now. They have one of the best rosters in the league and proven Championship experience.

Other teams around the league have improved though and are trying to catch up with the Celtics. As a result, it might be smart of them to try and keep a step ahead.

With Al Horford now 38 years of age and considering Kristaps Porzingis' long injury history, perhaps it would not be a bad idea for the Celtics to look to strengthen at center.

If that turns out to be the scenario come the offseason, Nikola Vucevic might be a player worth keeping an eye on.

Zach Buckley wrote in his article 'Imagining Every NBA Team's Top 3 Offseason Trade Targets' on Bleacher Report: "Should the Celtics seek a more stable option than Porziņģis, they could see appeal in adding Vučević's well-rounded offensive arsenal to the menu."

Coming into the season, there was not much excitement around Vucevic and most believed that the two-time All-Star had entered the downward trajectory of his career.

Vucevic has proved a lot of doubters wrong though and is playing some of the best basketball of his career right now. He has averaged 19.1 points, 10.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 56 games this season while shooting at a career-high efficiency.

Many fans could not believe that the Chicago Bulls did not trade Vucevic before the deadline despite parting ways with Zach LaVine.

One would imagine that the Bulls would be more open to the idea next summer, as the organization seeks a rebuild after years of mediocrity and one playoff appearance in the past seven seasons.

On the other hand, a move to the Celtics would give Vucevic the chance to compete for a Championship.
