Cavs Make Historic Coaching Announcement After Humbling Bucks
USA TODAY Sports

The Cleveland Cavaliers can't be stopped. They collected their 54th win of the season and 14th in a row on Sunday, completing a 4-0 sweep of Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2024-25 NBA regular season with a 112-100 victory at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee.

Making the day even more memorable for the Cavs was Kenny Atkinson's record-setting achievement.

In a post on X, the Cavs shared that their win against the Bucks set a new franchise record for most wins by a first-year Cleveland head coach, with Kenny Atkinson reaching that plateau in just the team's 64th game in the campaign.

The success the Cavs are having this season is a testament to Cleveland making the right decision to hire Atkinson as JB Bickerstaff's successor. Before coming over to Cleveland, Atkinson served as an assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Clippers. He also coached for the Brooklyn Nets and had stints with the coaching staff of the New York Knicks and Atlanta Hawks.

Under Atkinson, the Cavaliers have developed into an elite machine on both ends of the floor. On the season, Cleveland is No. 1 in the NBA with a 122.0 offensive rating and seventh with a 110.9 defensive rating. The Cavs' net rating of 11.0 is only bested by the Oklahoma City Thunder (12.8).

Atkinson can add more to his record on Tuesday when the Cavs face his former team, Brooklyn, at Rocket Arena in Cleveland.
