On Tuesday night, Boston Celtics guard Payton Pritchard was awarded the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year award. The Celtics guard broke out this season, averaging 14.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in 28.4 minutes a game, all of which were career-highs
It hasn't been too long since a Celtic won the award, as Malcolm Brogdon won it in 2023. Pritchard is the fourth Celtic in franchise history to win the award, joining Brogdon, Kevin McHale, and Bill Walton.
Following the NBA's announcement of Pritchard's victory, many Celtics, both former and current, shouted him out for the incredible achievement.
Among the current Celtics who congratulated Pritchard were Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Kristaps Porzingis, Jrue Holiday, Sam Hauser, Neemias Queta, and Torrey Craig, all of which were via their Instagram story.
Among the former Celtics who congratulated Pritchard were Grant Williams, Robert Williams, and Blake Griffin, all of which were also via their Instagram story. All three were teammates with Pritchard for one or multiple points of their career.

While that's as far as the shoutouts go, other former Celtics have shown their approval of Pritchard winning Sixth Man of the Year. Multiple Celtics' Instagram posts congratulating Pritchard were liked by more Celtics alumni, including Kevin Garnett, Isaiah Thomas, Evan Turner, Daniel Theis, and Jaden Springer.
It's clear Pritchard won over plenty of Celtics over the years, even the ones he never played with. Two years ago, Pritchard's role was only playing when the Celtics were undermanned. While he was frustrated enough to request a trade back in 2023, Boston advised him to stay patient, and said patience has clearly paid off for him.
