GM Bob Myers compares Golden State's core to a 'boxer'

The Golden State Warriors are ninth in the Western Conference (29-29), staggering but still standing with 24 games to go in the regular season. But to beat the champs, you must knock out the champs.

If the Warriors claw into the playoffs and start their core of Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson, GM Bob Myers likes his team's chances. That's because Golden State is 17-0 in playoffs series when the trio starts each game.

On Bay Area radio station 95.7 The Game earlier this week, Myers discussed the big three -- Curry, Thompson, and Green -- and their odds of repeating this season:

Added Myers: "I've never thought people were scared of our team or not. But when you're playing these guys in a series, you look across and you look at guys that have done it four times [won four titles], there's a weight to that."

Myers is absolutely right.

So far this season, though, Golden State is merely mediocre as they come. The Warriors have a point differential of 0.1. Their offensive and defensive rating is 12th and 20th (19th net rating) in the NBA. The trio has missed their share of games this season -- Green with six, Klay at 12 and Curry with 20.

Last season, the Warriors ranked second in defensive rating and fourth in net. This wide disparity has led to much criticism and concern about whether their window has closed.

News flash: It hasn't. The window-closing discussion can only begin once Curry, Thompson and Green are beaten in a playoff series (playing all games).

If all are healthy in a series, don't bet against them.
