Drew Timme recently burst onto the scene for the Brooklyn Nets after dominating in the G-League for the Nets’ Long Island affiliate. For the first few games, Timme was making his appearances off the bench, but today the 6'10 rookie got his first opportunity to start for Brooklyn and put up some nice numbers.

Timme piled up 13 points, seven rebounds, two assists and a steal in 26 minutes. This marks the third time in Timme’s brief five-game NBA stint that the former Gonzaga Bulldog has scored in double digits.

Timme is averaging 11.3 points, five rebounds, and 1.8 assists so far and is shooting 54.1% from the field.

Timme went undrafted out of Gonzaga, despite being one of the most skilled and successful players in all of college basketball for years, earning All-America nods three straight seasons.

The concerns about Timme from pro teams centered around the defensive end of the floor and overall athleticism. Timme has largely dispelled the notion that he can’t hang athletically, but admittedly still needs to work on the defensive end of the floor.

Regardless, Timme is showing out so far in the National Basketball Association due to his offensive skill set and tremendous effort. It’s routine to see Timme diving for a loose ball or running down a long rebound.

Timme signed a two year contract with the Nets upon getting called up to the NBA roster. The Zags legend will have opportunities to impress the Brooklyn fans and make Gonzaga fans proud for years to come.
