Sunday was a tough day for the Golden State Warriors. Not only did the team lose to the Los Angeles Clippers, but one of their best players got injured.

Golden State lost to Los Angeles in overtime by a final score of 124-119 at home. The Warriors dropped to the seventh spot in the West, so they will have to participate in the play-in tournament.

The Memphis Grizzlies (8) and Warriors (7) will play at the Chase Center. If Golden State wins, Steve Kerr's group will face the Houston Rockets in the first round of the 2025 playoffs.

If the Warriors lose to the Grizzlies, they will play the winner of the Sacramento Kings (9)-Dallas Mavericks (10) play-in game to determine who will face the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round.

"We're right where we want to be," Jimmy Butler said after the Warriors lost to the Clippers, via ESPN. "We've still got an opportunity and we control our own fate. We're going to be just fine."

Butler, who hasn't missed the playoffs since 2016 when he was on the Chicago Bulls, suffered a thigh injury in the Warriors-Clipppers game. He was limping heavily near the end of the game but told reporters postgame that he'd be fine.

"I’ll be alright," Butler said. "Go home and play some dominoes and drink some coffee that’ll make it feel better.”

Butler played 48 minutes against the Clippers. He finished with 30 points and nine rebounds.

The Warriors haven't won a playoff series since 2022. It will be fascinating to see if Golden State reaches the postseason this year.

If the Warriors make the playoffs, tracking how far they go will be intriguing.
